4 Summer Shoes For Men That You’d Want to Buy Straight Away
Men’s summer shoes and the casual footwear that should be in every men’s wardrobe. Summer outfits are distinctly different from fall/winter ensembles. One option is often overlooked is the variety of different shoe options. Although some dress shoes can be worn throughout the entire year, there are some casual options that are specific to the warmer months.
One of my personal favorites is the boat shoe.I love having them in a leather material and I love the different colors that they come in. It has a great cup of color to almost any summer outfit. Now, let’s discuss summer shoes, their distinguishing features, and how best incorporate them into your summer outfit.
Let’s start off with the first summer shoes, Loafer. Loafers come in a variety of different styles which give gentlemen a lot of options as to how to create their best outfit. Many men often misconstrue the loafer being any kind of a slip-on shoe when in fact, it’s a league all of its own. The best thing about the loafer is that it works ideal in both dress and in casual settings. This kind of versatility makes a complete must-have for all gentlemen.Loafers are often made in both leather and suede options. Popular varieties include the penny loafer, the Gucci loafer, and the tassel loafer which should be ideal for many dress occasions.
A tassel of a penny loafer will pair elegantly with seersucker jacket and a pair of linen trousers, whereas a suede loafer will pair better with a pair of shorts and a polo shirt at the beach. Regardless of how you decide to wear them, they look elegant and very nonchalant. Unlike the boat shoe or the driving moc, wearing socks with loafers is common practice. This is because the shoes come up a little higher in the foot. For example, you can try to wear these outfit to the beach wedding, in a casual setting, even with a pair of shorts and a checked shirt.
Now,if you’re just beginning your loafer journey and you’re looking to see what kind of options are gonna be best for you, I would recommend starting out with a penny loafer, it’s quite versatile and would go well with a lot of denim outfits, also sticking to something in the brown family, maybe something a little of a lighter shade of brown will work best this summer months as well too.
The second shoe, one of my personal favorite is the Boat Shoe. Check out boat shoe is one of the most prominently seen casual shoes in resort towns. Originally, these were designed as practical footwear for sailors. Later, they became quite a staple in Northeastern beach communities before making their way across the United States and the world. Today, boat shoes can be seen on men pairing them with a pair of Khakis running errands or a pair of shorts and a casual shirt while out for lunch. The boat shoe is quint essentially preppy.
Typically, boat shoes are worn without socks and often made in leather but also sometimes in canvas or suede material. If you are prone to falling all over the place, you should be happy in knowing that boat shoes are made with a non-slip sole as well as having water-resistant uppers and a unique lacing system. If you’re just beginning getting into wearing boat shoes, a bit of recommendation that I can make is to check out the Sperry brand.
They make a phenomenal product, they offer a lot of different materials and color options for you to check out but if you’re just starting out getting something in a neutral tone like a navy blue, or perhaps a light gray will work best when you’re trying to pair with a variety of different outfit options.
The next shoe we’re going to talk about is the Driving Moc. Even though the driving moc is easily one of the most popular moccasin-style shoes, technically, it is not a true moccasin. Actually, the style we’re all quite familiar with is from Tod’s of Italy. Driving mocs are often recognized by the knobs that seem to stick on the back and base of the shoe. Driving mocs were often used as a shoe that’s kept in the car to be worn by men as a means of keeping their cabin free from dirt and debris.
Today, these shoes have been seen as a summer shoe, something that can be worn barefoot with everything from short to a casual pair of pants. Unlike the loafer, these shoes are quite casual, not every elegant and often times not very well made. Therefore, these shoes should not be worn with a business suit but rather with something more casual for out and about. Driving mocs are traditionally made from leather and they are another option that over time has been made with other colors and materials as a great way of introducing some really fine unique things into someone’s wardrobe.
Although driving mocs do come in a black or brown option, once you got them established, it would be nice to invest in some fun colors such as green, or red suede in summer months. It’s also worth noting that pastel tones are much better than bright colors. This is because they make you look supremely well dressed without looking ostentatious or too clownish. If you’re just starting outwith wearing driving mocs, try with a pair of brown leather. Once you’ve done that, it’s nice to also include a pair of pastel suede in some color that you might like. To further step up your summer shoe game, let’s check out a few other styles that will be nice to add into the wardrobe.
The first shoe that we’re going to talk about here is the White Buck. The white buck is more of a traditional style. It was formed to take on a lot of more casual styles that we’ve seen come out of the Northeastern portion of the United States. Like many of today’s summer styles for men, it was formed after these three different rebellious fashion trends. These were a mode of “sticking it to the man.”
One, the preppies love their boat shoes. Two, the Ivy style took on the loafer. And also for the more traditional gentlemen, who have fathers that wouldn’t let them dare leave the house with a pair of boat shoes, they opted for this style. Today, white bucks aren’t usually that popular and most men would usually opt for a different style altogether. However, for a truly stylish gentleman, having at least one or two pairs in their wardrobe is ideal. The white buck is a perfect example of a summer shoe that can be worn with a variety of outfits.
At the very least, it will certainly get you noticed. And you might be wondering, what does the ideal white buck look like?Well, ideally an Oxford-style but a Derby is also acceptable. If you want these in a Deerskin leather, also known as a Buckskin in a white or in a suede. Also try looking for a style in a full brogue.
The next shoe that we’re going to talk about summer shoes is one that I have in trove. It’s the Casual Canvas Shoe. Sneakers and athletic shoes have become the norm in the summer. It seems that many men opt for a pair of Nike, Adidas or New Balance sneaker with jacket. However, athletic shoes are for athletics, so instead of wearing a pair of Nike’s, look for a canvas casual shoe.
You can wear these shoes with or without socks and they come in a variety of different colors. Classic colors include white and off-white,but please keep in mind these will stain much more quickly. A pair of simple grey or royal blue canvas won’t stain as easily. When paired with white or a light blue colored laces. It’s going to be great for anyone who’s young-at-heart. These shoes are perfect fora walk in the park or playing in the backyard.
These shoes are undeniably casual and only work best with very casual outfits. For a large selection in a wide variety of different colors. Check out the Italian Superga brand.Alternatively,PF Flyers might be more in line with your taste. Of course, the more popular option that we all probably know is the Converse All Star Chuck Taylor. Although this is a very durable shoe. It has become so mainstream over the years that you’re almost guaranteed to not stand out.
